My Results of the Progressive #TrySnapshot 30 Day Challenge.
For 30 days, I drove around with the Progressive SnapShot doo-hickey underneath the dash of my car and allowed it to measure my amazing driving habits. At the end of 30 days it would tell me how amazing I was and how amazing of a discount on my car insurance I deserve.
I have to admit, I noticed that sometimes it beeped at me in certain situations.
In fact, after I took the 30 day Progressive Snapshot challenge, I wondered if it was even possible for me to be eligible for a discount with the amount of beeping I generated. It seemed to happen when I stopped short, and by ”stopping short” I don’t mean skidding to a halt with my life flashing before my eyes, I mean deciding that no, I probably won’t make it through that light so I’ll stop in time which means pressing just a wee bit harder on the brake than usual.
I swear I wasn’t really stopping short!
Or perhaps, the car in front of me decided not to go through the light so I will apply the brake a little faster. Or perhaps the car in front of me stops in the middle of the road for absolutely no reason whatsoever (true story!) And I apply the brake a little harder. Or perhaps the driver in front of me stops 18 car lengths in front of the red light (don’t you hate that? I don’t understand it!), which I was not expecting and so I apply the brake a little harder.
Didn’t it see how that car came out of nowhere like that? I should be applauded for my amazing defensive driving!
So anyways, here’s the result. (I’m doing this all in real time which means while I’m writing this sentence I truly do not know the results.)
Wah wahhhhhh….
Oopsy. Well I suppose I really shouldn’t be surprised. I did hear a lot of beeping after all.
Perhaps I just already have an amazing rate and I couldn’t possibly save any more than what I pay! Which I pretty much do. You’re all going to be running in the other direction when I get into my car, aren’t you?
Anyways, this was a fun and interesting challenge to say the least and worth it if you are paying a lot and want to pay less and you want to give it a shot at a discount. The odds were not in my favor but perhaps they could be in yours. (Note: do not stop short.)
If you end up with no discount after 30 days, you can drive around with the thingy for a few more months and perhaps it’ll change its mind.
