Prematurity Awareness Month is on its Way! We’re Helping NICU Families!
It’s that time of year again, almost time to throw a big huge baby shower for moms of preemies at Tampa General Hospital! That means, THE BOOTY WALL IS BACK!

As part of Mommies Little Miracles, a preemie moms group here in Tampa Bay, we do this every year. We collect, gather, and package up all those things you would have at a baby shower, only this is for DOZENS OF MOMS who might not have made it to their own shower because their little one came early.
Car seats, onesies, baby hats, blankets, swings, play mats, bottles, bottle warmers, nursing supplies — WE NEED ALL OF IT! The baby shower will be held in November as part of Prematurity Awareness Month.
We also collect funds for supplies, decorations, goody bags and more importantly FOOD. (What’s a shower without yummy food and cake?!)
Why do we do this?
We’ve been there. My preemie was born 6 weeks early, but some mothers in our group have had their babies as early as 24 weeks. However early and for whatever reason, having your child born early is never easy.
It’s a sensitive time for mommies to newborn preemies, a time that’s supposed to be joyous turns to fear, unknowing, stressful, sometimes anger, and almost always guilt. What could I have done differently? Why did my body not work right?
Through the baby shower, we are here to support them, to give them a much-needed break from the long and stressful hospital visits, to give them a place where yes! It’s ok to celebrate the arrival of your baby!

And it’s not your fault.
This is different from your typical baby shower in that there are often tears, some of the mommies are still in their wheel chairs, but then you see them LAUGHING because their husband is drinking a bottle during the bottle game (yes we break the ice!) or they’re laughing because we’ve made them wear groucho marx glasses (we like to have fun!)

Tuesday, October 9th, we are having a fundraiser at the Red Elephant in Carrollwood, in Tampa. All day, they are giving 15% of their sales to our shower!!!!!! If you’re in our area, please go to there and eat lunch or dinner!!!
