It’s Wednesday during #Squatoberfest 2012! So let’s talk about how to add a little spice to your daily squats.
- Squat with friends.
- Squat to music.
- SQUAT OPPA GANGNAM STYLE!
- Get it on video.
Here’s my tri group and me squatting after the mock tri on Sunday. It’s only 30 seconds, click it!
How is #Squatoberfest going for YOU?
I’m loving the daily squats in October, not a single day has gone by that I haven’t squatted, so I’m proud of myself.
In fact, last week, I got in 3 runs, a swim and a mock triathlon! I’m so happy! It was a nice finish to a sort of off week that I had at the beginning of it (I think having given away a lot of baby clothes had gotten to me a little so I spent the beginning of last week down in the dumps – more on that later.)
But I have officially signed up for my first post-hysterectomy triathlon and it’s October 20th! I’m super excited, I didn’t want to sign up for it until I thought I could finish it and we practiced on the course on Sunday.
Which by the way, was a beautiful morning.
The dolphins frolicked near the beach. There were a lot of stingrays buried in the sand so we had to do the shuffle. I only sort of freaked when I saw some of the bigger ones hiding in the sand as I swam over them because the water was so clear, but I knew I’d be fine as long as I didn’t put my feet down!
Which was hard when my goggles started leaking and I had to bob there for a minute.
It was so beautiful that morning that when we were finished, I rode home with all the windows down and blasting the music and I met the family at church all stank and gross (I got there right at communion but waited outside so as to not scare the rest of the church) and then we all went to breakfast.
I had a wonderful realization about triathlon and divine intervention and wrote this post.
For some reason, completing a triathlon is going to be a lot more sweet to me than completing a running race, although completing a half-marathon post-hysterectomy is going to be pretty sweet too.
And that was my week in fitness! We are still going through October #Unprocessed and I’m finding it hard with certain recipes to swap out some unprocessed ingredients, but I’ve been having some DELICIOUS fruits and veggies, like this avocado-tomato-chicken and I can’t WAIT to share with you my salad I had (check it out on Saturday. SO GOOD.)
And finally YOU MUST see this workout bag I’m giving away from Workplay Bags! It’s AMAZING! I did a video review so you can see all its lovely features for yourself.
But first, leave me a comment and tell me about YOUR SQUATS for #squatoberfest or your week in fitness so far!!!!

I’ve been trying to teach my students proper squat form for the past 2 weeks. It has not been going well. The men in particular want to collapse forward into their knees, with zero help from their core. But we’ll get there – we always do. BTW, that video is too much. I knew there were many fun secrets about you!
