And Race Day Approaches…

by

First I want to start out by saying I have a supertopsecret interview today so wish me luck. Oh nelly.

Especially since I’ll be running on large amounts of caffeinated beverage today. Of course my 4 year old was coming into my room all night (“Can I snuggle with you daddy?” Notice it’s not mommy anymore, ‘nother topic.)And so when he would go back to his room and I would fall back asleep I would just dream about him coming into my room. And then he would actually come into my room again. And then I would fall asleep and dream about him coming into my room. Magical.

That’s ok. It’s not like I needed the sleep or anything.

:/

Anyway it’s hard to write about anything else today but it is a week in workouts day! But I suppose I’ll stick to the program.

I ran 7 miles this past weekend. 7 MILES!

Every workout now re-convinces me that I’m back. Because yes I need re-convincing. Again and again.

But it was 7 miles of amazing, date night with husband. It wasn’t fast, it was a nice long no-thoughts, no frills 7 miles. Sometimes we talked. Sometimes we didn’t. (Brace yourself for gagging in 3-2-1:) We paused near the top of the drawbridge and kissed when the sun touched the water as it set.

I know. Gross, right? I like him sometimes.

I got in most of my workouts last week, including an amazing 3.5 mile run to the Long Center with a good friend of mine and a long swim.

Swim at the Long Center

And then of course it was 3.5 miles back (which included running with some walking).

The beautiful trail.

Diane on the beautiful trail we ran. She’s off to do a full Ironman this weekend, wish her luck!

It was an amazing swim/run brick. Diane is off to do an ironman this weekend in North Carolina so wish her luck along her 140.6 miles! She’s blogging as The Iron Maven, go check her out and watch her journey!

For the rest of the week, I did some spinning and I made my way to the weights for some leg presses, formerly known as tummy torturers. I have been off any of the pressing on account of the hernia potential but I threw all caution to the wind and it was fine! Hooray!

So now I’m starting to push and push without any afterthought. The floodgates are open. Next is the crunch but I’m not sure when I’ll tackle that one.

Race day is Saturday and I’m SO READY. My mom is coming with me because the boys have baseball and I didn’t really want to be alone at my first race back and I’M SUPER EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!! Last triathlon of the season, first race back, I CAN’T WAIT!!!!

Now onto SQUATOBERFEST!

Is anyone still out there? Is it crickets? I’m not hearing you squatting!

Are you squatting?

I’m still squatting, so let’s hear it! And take it to Twitter when you’ve done em, #squatoberfest is the hashtag!

This week I’m featuring another video, this one of the lovely twins Kymberly and Alexandra from Fun & Fit as they show us all how to do the proper squat! They’re hilarious and many of us make some very common squat mistakes, so you must watch to see if you’re doing any of them and make sure you’re doing it right! Plus there are hot boots involved.

I just love these guys. Somuch.

So that’s it for now!

Tell me about your week in workouts so far, your squat situation and I’ll let you know tomorrow how the interview went. GAH!

  1. I love Kymberly and Alexandra! I totally have blown off #squatober, but I have done tons of squats in BodyWorks several times a week this month. This week? Saturday I did a 20 mile bike ride with the Trek Women Breast Cancer Awareness ride here in St. Pete. Sunday I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and BodyWorks class. Monday was 2 miles walking and a Karna Fitness Restore the Core class with the lovely Christie Bruner. Yesterday (Tues) was 4 miles of walking (2 in the morning walking Mack to school and 2 in the evening with the whole family). That was it yesterday since I volunteered at school. Now I’m sick and debating whether to exercise at all today. I’m thinking about heading out for about 10 miles on the bike and not sharing my sicky germs with the gym. Oh, and you are TOTALLY back!!! Wahoo!

  2. Good luck on your interview. I’m in the job market again and interviews are so stressful, but when you’ve at least gotten that far in the process, it’s great!

My son slept horribly last night too. I may need a caffeine drip today.

  3. No squats. Runs are going well and I biked on a trainer for the first time yesterday – holy cats what a sweatfest! (Now I just need to convince the hubs that we can afford to buy one for me).

    Hope the interview went great!
