Tues Reviews: Tom and Jerry Tricks and Treats

by

There’s Just Something About Tom and Jerry that My Kids Find HILARIOUS.

It didn’t occur to me whilst flicking through the various cartoons that my kids had fallen in love with over the years to share with them some of the classics. You know what I mean.

Saturday morning.

Parents still sleeping.

Getting yourself cereal & plopping in front of the tv. Followed by long mornings of jammies and cartoons.

I loved those Saturday mornings. (They still feel like yesterday.)

It doesn’t seem like that exists anymore (I suppose it’s probably a good thing, we’re usually out the door pretty early on the weekends anyways anymore doing all those weekend sportsbirthdaypartythings we do on weekends.)

A couple months ago, my mother-in-law who they call “Nee Nee” was watching them and when I came home Tom and  Jerry was on. It had been a while since I’d heard my kids really laughing, that crazy belly laugh, to a cartoon. I mean, falling over laughing. It hadn’t occurred to me ever  to put it on (I didn’t actually know it was still on!) but it has since become one of their favorites. They laugh at the chase, they laugh at Tom always getting in trouble, they laugh at the crazy things Tom does to Jerry, they find it all hilarious.

So of course when I found out Tom and Jerry Tricks and Treats was coming out, I was all over it. Instead of DVR-ing episodes of Tom and Jerry like I have been, hurrah! 22 episodes on one DVD!

Most of which they hadn’t seen before and at the same time it’s getting us all in the mood for fall and Halloween. There’s Tom and Jerry, some (not-so-scary) ghosts, creepy houses, haunted forests all the way from Transylvania to Egypt. None of it is scary at all, either, it’s all just fun.

And while Tom and Jerry is still a cartoon, it’s not what they’d consider a “baby” cartoon (don’t even get me started on how they’re growing out of some of my personal favorites from their toddler-hood, that just makes me sad.)

At 6 & 4, they love love love their Tom and Jerry. If you want to hear your kids do the belly laugh, it’s worth a watch.

Tom and Jerry Tricks and Treats was released on DVD September 4. Here’s a sneaky peek at it:

Speaking of Saturday morning cartoons, do you REMEMBER THOSE DAYS???

Disclosure: I received Tom and Jerry Tricks and Treats for review purposes. I was not compensated for this post, opinions are our own.
