Movie Review: Finding Nemo 3D on the Big Screen (+ New Toy Story Short!)

by

We Get to Visit 42 WALLABY WAY SYDNEY Again, YAY!

If you have children and love Disney movies like we do, then you’ve probably seen Disney Pixar’s Finding Nemo 584,293 times already. But I ask you, how many times have you actually sat through the entire movie start to finish?

That was a treat for especially me – I never actually get to sit down and watch it from beginning to end – usually they watch it while I’m doing something else! This time, though, I actually got permission to sit through it at the theater with the kids who were super excited too as we got to catch Finding Nemo in 3D!

Acadamy Award-winning “Finding Nemo” is just one of the many Disney movies making it back to the big screen, along with Monster’s, Inc (December 19) and The Little Mermaid (2013). If you’ve never seen Finding Nemo, it is the sweet story of a tiny clownfish with a bum fin named “Nemo” and his overprotective clownfish dad who become separated and the trek across the ocean to find each other.

Starring Albert Brooks (who I have always loved and is perfect) as Marlin, Nemo’s Dad, and Ellen DeGeneres as of course, Dory, (“Just keep swimming… just keep swimming…”), Finding Nemo was for us an instant classic. The added detail for the 3D effects just makes all the little details POP.

If your kids are little and haven’t seen it yet, it’s an adorable movie.

Before Finding Nemo was a hilarious Disney Pixar Toy Story short called  Partysaurus Rex in which Rex goes on a mission to find his inner “Partysaurus,” which takes place mostly in a bathtub (foam party, disco, rave going on here, it’s hilarious.) Here’s the trailer:

By the way, here are some fun facts about Finding Nemo:

  • In 2003, “Finding Nemo” won the Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature
  • “Finding Nemo” was nominated for Originals Screenplay & Original Score
  • “Finding Nemo” was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture
  • Director Andrew Stanton won the Oscar® “Finding Nemo”
  • “Finding Nemo” became the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time when it was released. It’s still ranked 5th worldwide.
“Finding Nemo” 3D is rated “G” and hits theaters everywhere on Friday, September 14th.

Are you going to take the kids to see it? What’s your favorite part in Finding Nemo?

Don’t miss the short!! It’s hilarious!

Disclosure: I screened Finding Nemo 3D for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
