Crazy Tales of Motherhood for Tales from the Trenches Week!
Did you know that August is World Breastfeeding Month? And right now we’re hitting the tail end of World Breastfeeding Week, too! In honor of breastfeeding, moms, and all the crazy things moms go through during motherhood, we’re featuring your tales from the trenches this week and we’re kicking it off with Kelly from New Leaf Wellness who has two little girls. Be sure to visit her!
This is a silly twist on ‘Oh, the Places You’ll Go!’ by Dr. Seuss. It was inspired by the many places that I pumped while breastfeeding and working full-time with my first daughter.
Oh, the Places You’ll Pump!
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re going great places!
And pumping away!
Breast pump packed in your car.
New batteries to use.
You can pump on-the-go
any location you choose.
You packed a cooler with ice. So no need to dump.
And YOU are the gal who’ll decide where to pump.
Bathroom, office, house, or car? You consider with care.
About some you will say, “I can’t bare my chest there.”
With a chest full of milk that is starting to leak,
You’ll pull over the car where no one will peek.
Then you’ll have a few hours
to pump right on cue.
Medela, of course,
is coming with you.
Pump by boat or train,
hotel, motel, or plane.
Many places you’ll pump.
It isn’t taboo
to women nursing
and working like you.
When long trips come up,
don’t stay home in lieu.
Just go right along.
And bring your pump too.
OH!
THE PLACES YOU’LL PUMP!
Can you relate to my experience of pumping on-the-go? Is there anywhere creative or unusual that you have you used your breast pump?

I pumped for seven months do to the fact my son could not breatfeed because of prematurity. I’m darn proud of this! This meant I had to pump everywhere I went. The craziest places were the emergency room waiting room, bathrooms in multiple restaurants, and at the Magic Kingdom.

Oh the stories I could tell of me and my pump. I used mine so much that it broke 2 weeks after my second son was born. I put so many miles on that darn thing (and this was in addition to breastfeeding), you’d think it was a pocket rocker or something
