Oh dear.
Perhaps I shouldn’t have come.
Because I just really really really really really want to move back. Don’t tell my husband.
You know how you feel where you belong and it’s in you’re bones?
For me, that’s here.
My nostalgia cup overfloweth. I even miss the stinky train.
I love Florida, but this has always been home.
So yesterday I got off the train to see my family on Long Island and they asked me if I had any special requests for lunch.
I couldn’t help myself.
They happily reluctantly obliged me. Don’t worry, I didn’t eat ALLLLLL of those. Just a few. I exercised some amount of restraint.
In other delicious news, ohmigod this face.
I came early to New York to catch up with family but it just didn’t feel like enough time! It never is. I hung out with my cousins on my dad’s side…
And then my cousins on my mom’s:
With whom there is almost always an “incident.”
That’ll be a challenge. We’re up for it. Think we can take it? Wine on white pants???
Also I tried Bubble Tea for the first time!
It has all these little almost marble-sized tapioca balls at the bottom that you suck up through the fat straw when you drink the tea, which comes in all different flavors. I tried the black cherry.
People love this stuff.
I couldn’t get past the globule-ness. They were tiny tapioca globules and when they came up through the straw it really just felt wrong. But I tried it!
Lots of people love this stuff! If that counts. (Have you tried it?)
Before I knew it, it was time to leave and head on into the city.
I can already see how tough it will be to blog from here, as very little of me wants to be in this room right now, I want to be out on the street taking pictures and taking it alllll in. I know it’s going to go fast and before I know it, I’ll be on the plane.
Oh yes: the list of things I’ve forgotten (inevitably) is starting to form and it starts with my makeup. Wonderful! Not all of it, just some, so I am walking around hideous right now until I head to the drug store. Other things will pop up I’m sure because there’s always more.
Tonight I’m seeing some old work buddies and tomorrow I get to play tourist for a while after a mimosa party with #brandswelove, my first sort of BlogHer-ish event (hurrah!) and then BlogHer officially begins!
I’ll be Tweeting and Instagramming (follow me, I’m AverageMomsWearCapes) along the way so come meet me over there!
Off to take some pictures and buy some makeup!
My question to you is, do you live where you feel like you’re “HOME?” Where is your “home”?

Home for me is on a farm on the back roads of Maine, but here I am, in Florida, in the city, where I am very unhappy. BUT I stay because it is where my husband and daughter want to be. One day I hope to go back to the simple country life.
oh how this post made me SMILE.
Im struggling to find where I belong these days….

I always feel at peace when i go visit where I grew up
And that bubble tea was really popular when I was in middle school- it was gross then, no idea how it made a comeback!
I do feel like where I live is my home – for now. I am so drawn to the beach, however, and know one day that will be where I call home.
Really amusing post. It made me laugh.
