Drove the Chevy to the Painting and the Painting Was Dry….

by

(Well eventually it was! OK that post title was a stretch…) Yesterday, I got together with a bunch of local bloggers, hurrah! We got together for the #ChevyFit4Life Tour, which was a blast!

The event was sponsored by Chevy and we had a packed itinerary with a boot camp workout at Lifestyle Family Fitness in Hyde Park, an incredibly delicious lunch at Fit Life Foods, followed by painting at Painting with a Twist and yoga in the park. And also we got to try out driving some Chevys and sniffing new car smell.

Unfortunately, again, with my recent tear (really cramping my style here, hysto!) I couldn’t work out in boot camp fashion. I did however, do the little warm up run around the block – not far, with some walking of course.

I made myself useful though! That empty mat should have been occupied by me but instead I was taking pictures of the amazing strong women doing the various circuits around me.

Boy did it look like a workout.

The beloved burpees came out:

Catching air!

Kettlebells.

PLANKS.

LOTS AND LOTS OF PLANKS. The last woman standing (or planking, rather) was there for 3 minutes, 56 seconds. Impressive.

I did do one set of lunges and squats, that’s about the only thing that doesn’t make my guts feel like they’re falling out, but mostly I did this:

HELLO!

For the record, it’s really hard to watch EVERYONE ELSE WORK OUT!

And then, we headed to the parking lot to these:

The one we drove was the blue one.

A little test driving as we head to our other destinations! The other Christie got to drive first! We drove the Chevy Cruze.

Isn’t she so cute?

Our first stop was Fit Life Foods. They just opened one of these up right near my house in Clearwater, I’ve been dying to try it out. We were at the Tampa location. They make what they call “indulgently healthy prepared foods.” With the calorie count, fat grams and nutritional information right on the package, there are dozens of items to choose from in their glass cases, from chicken dishes to veggie or bean dishes to breakfasts, and more. You can fill up your fridge with healthy prepared meals if you want for the week!

I tried the Rockin’ Risotto ($5.95).

Isn’t she a beauty? GET IN MA BELLY!

I cannot turn down Risotto. Ever. It wins over everything. And for that price, it’s better than a value meal at any fast food joint. The prices range from $5.95 to $11 and everything in between. The risotto was delicious and I didn’t have to be the one standing over the stove stirring for two hours. Bonus! I did however, get spices in my teeth. Which always happens to me.

They also have these peanut butter bars that are all natural and energy drinks just like Red Bull but with healthier ingredients. The peanut butter bar was TODIEFOR. I’m glad I have this place about 3 minutes from where I live.

MMMMMMMMMMMMM.

Sidenote: if you bring the empty plastic dishes their food comes in back to the store for them to recycle, you get free meals in return. Bonus! So you’re saving the planet too. I love that.

After all of that deliciousness, we headed over to Painting with a Twist near Hyde Park where we tried to channel our inner Picassos. Or Monets.

Our task was to take this blank canvas..

And create the “Little Black Dress.” There were times it was touch and go and I thought I had a disaster on my hands.

Stage 2.

My hanger went from a nice slender hanger to a chunky plastic Wal-Mart hanger. My dress was all funky. But at the end of it, I was really proud!

Stage 3. VOILA! What do you think?

It made me not want to buy any more paintings and start painting my own! (Which is probably a stretch but still.) My favorite part is that everyone had their own version of the perfect black dress.

That’s Caroline in deep thought and concentration!

To see everyone’s interpretation and everyone’s style was amazing.

Each person went home with their own work of art.

I love that place. There’s usually wine involved but not today, it was water for us on account of the test-driving and working out and such. But I can see how fun wine would make it. :p

That was the end of the day for me (I had to forgo the yoga on account of the bending), but it was my turn to drive back, hurrah! What a smooth ride, the Chevy Cruze, I felt like I was riding in style!

The day was full of different ways to keep a body healthy, from the body to the mind (to not crashing in a car that’s not yours). Thanks, Chevy!
