Review: Mission Ready = Sleepytime for Me {GIVEAWAY!}

by

After a bout of insomnia, does Mission Ready’s Sleep Ready really work?

Superhero girl in a red

If you’re having trouble sleeping, you’re going to want to read this.

So I must have put out a call to the universe when I had a case of the insomnias after the hysterectomy and actually I found out from my research that insomnia post hysterectomy is very common.

It was terrible really, I’d wake up with the creepy crawlies, or I’d wake up all hot and sweaty at 3 in the morning and be bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to go for the day! At 3 a.m!

It was awful!

Especially because by the time I got to noon, I was ready to fall over and I began to chain-drink coffee for the rest of the afternoon. As if that would help my insomnia come night time. (Smart, right?)

According to my research, the surgery itself puts your body through stress, the chemicals and the hormones are all messed up and they take weeks, sometimes months to get back to normal. I even kept my ovaries, so I wasn’t even having hot flashes from early menopause, it was just the craziness of my body being traumatized! Not to mention, I was pretty stressed out anyways and still in a lot of pain.

So Mission Ready reached out to me to try their natural remedy for insomnia. I don’t like prescriptions because I am afraid I will depend on them so trying these was sort of like something sent to me from the universe.

First of all, I gotta tell you a little about Mission Ready because their background is really interesting: the Mission Ready pills were created by a pair of U.S. Navy Seals, Pete Wikul (co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize) and Jim McKay, who know what it’s like to go without sleep and to be too stressed to sleep. They were Navy seals.

“Stressed Out American Women Have No Time for Sleep”

As I was perusing Mission Ready’s website about their product, that headline right there caught my eye and made me laugh. American women have no time for sleep. Don’t I know it! I had a hard time sleeping but yes, I actually filled up that time with productivity and if left to my own devices on a daily basis I could really do without sleep at all (if I wasn’t such a bear without it!) According to a study done in 2007 by the National Sleep Foundation, 79% of women are stressed out. 67% of women have trouble sleeping.

Lots are stay at home moms with insomnia. Does any of that look familiar? It does for me.

So, here are the ingredients for Mission Ready’s Sleep Ready Sleep Aid:

No gluten, no dyes, no chemicals, and it’s vegetarian too.

Did Mission Ready Work For Me?

Yes! I watched this fantastic interview between Chris Brogan and Mission Ready Founder Pete Wikul, who said the thing about Sleep Ready for him was that he never remembers falling asleep with it. And that’s how I felt. I took it an hour before I was ready to go to bed and when I went to bed, I fell asleep. I must say that I do love that they really are all-natural, there are no kinds of colorings, additives, preservatives, anything: they are simply what they say they are and the combination of ingredients works.

The thing is though, it’s best to also  try to form some healthy sleep habits along with taking Sleep Ready, too. And this was a good reminder of that for me.

Tips for Forming Healthy Sleep Habits (according to Shape.com)

  • Unplug early at least an hour before bedtime (which is when you should take your Sleep Ready pills too!)
  • Whoa on the caffeine. Try and refrain from that afternoon boost and stick to decaf.
  • Careful on the hydration! More liquids = more potty breaks at night, so stop drinking about an hour before bed.
  • Get a new mattress. (I NEED ONE OF THESE. Mine has a dip in the middle that we both fall into. Just putting it out there into the universe.)
  • Cool down the house. This is a fight in my house, I get up in a sweat if it’s even 1 degree over 70. (I prefer it in the 60s but I freeze my husband out when I do that. We compromise on 70 but 65 is a nice number.)
  • Careful on the wine. (Boy am I glad the Bachelorette is over, then!) If you have it, three hours before bed is best.

  24. My Neurologist prescribed me Ambien 10mg for my problems with sleeping. If I don’t get a good night sleep, then I have bad migraines that send me to the Emergency Room. I have no problems going to sleep, I have problems staying asleep. I will wake up when my husband walks into the bedroom at night trying to be as quiet as possible. If I get woke up, then I have a hard time going back to sleep. I’m starting to have problems again waking up in the middle of the night for no reason and not able to go back to sleep. I am on the max dosage of Ambien.

Would sleep ready help me with this?
