I’ve been waiting for a long time for everything to be ok again.
14 weeks to be exact. 14 long weeks.
Sunday was the first day since the surgery 9 weeks ago that I woke up without any pain. (Who’s counting, right?) It was the first day that I woke up and I had actually forgotten anything had even remotely hurt for the past 9 weeks. I didn’t take any advil. I went for a nice long 2 mile walk/run.
Turning point!
It was like the sky opened and a beam of sunshine came down unto me, like voila! It’s gone. It’s the oddest feeling, really, all of a sudden, as if out of nowhere, feeling better. One day it sucked and then one day it did not.
No little nagging reminder in my midsection that I had a scary surgery. Nada. Zip.
I even put aside my elastic waistbands for a button up pair of shorts and didn’t hate myself for it. HURRAH!
So yesterday I saw Dr. Wonderful (can I call him that? I can’t think of any other word. I even tried looking up a synonym on Thesaurus.com and nothing else fits. He’s just wonderful.) It was the two-week checkup from the last time I went because of the tear I had. Which was terrible and painful and it sucked by the way.
Turns out that it’s all healed (HOORAY!) or at least it appears so, and so therefore I am cleared to swim (HOORAY!!!!!) which is good because beach vacation is coming up and I want to get back into the pool and train again! The timing couldn’t be more perfect! Exclamation mark! Here!!! And here!!! And some more over here!!!!
!!!!!!!!!
It’s still a no “relations” policy though. For a while. A long while. Cold showers in someone’s future.
Tonight “swim date night” resumes, I cannot tell you how excited I am to get back in the pool and how TORTUROUS IT WAS TO GO TO THE BEACH AND THE POOL LAST WEEKEND AND JUST HAVE TO SIT THERE! *sigh of relief* We will probably swim our romantic laps side by side and make our pilgrimage to Buffalo Wild Wings for some trivia and perhaps a beer, because that’s how we roll on a swim date night.
My next appointment is in September for another checkup on the progress of the healing.
Life is officially getting back to normal.
