Foto Friday: Free to Good Home

One of the (very few) “perks” of a hysterectomy:

doneperiodI’m finger quoting the “perks” word since there are only two “perks” I know of which are getting rid of the Cansuh and also having no more “friend,” which, (if we’re being cup-half-full-people, which we are, especially after having a sort of down week) are pretty good perks.

My white pants are in the closet rejoicing as we speak and my granny panties are gathering and preparing for a giant granny panty protest.

I have three boxes of leftovers of these things in every size and I’ll ship! Wait, is that weird? Inappropriate? Well they’re not USED! OK, FINE. You can come get them then. Still weird? Fine.

What was funnier though was the scene of the actual tampon photo shoot which was a couple of boys proclaiming “Hey! I want to play with the ‘glow sticks!’” Along with the barrage questions, “Mommy what are those!” And “Why are you spelling ‘DONE’ with those?!” while I continued to fanny about and spell my word and take pictures from every angle completely ignoring them. And of course the observances, “That spells TAMPAX! I CAN READ THAT!”

I was also accused, by the way, by my 6 year old of irresponsibly and frivolously buying something I do not need to which I tried to explain: “But, but… I bought them when I needed them! Oh, never mind…”

There is of course, the multitude of punny alternate captions, the one of which stands out most:

“Done. Period.”

Ya know, as in “end of story?” But also it’s a period? Get it?

*snicker* Sorry. (Feel free to chime in here…)

Ps. Oh yeah, sorry Tampax, it’s nothing personal. We had a good run.

  2. You should donate your extras to your local women’s shelter. They are always in need of feminine hygiene supplies.

  3. Fantastic photo! I should do the same thing with the piles of baby clothes I have stored in Audrey’s closet. After a lot of discussion we’ve finally decided we’re done. Just can’t go through the stress and worry and the “possibilities” again. My decision now is.. Yard sale or consignment?!

  4. Since my hysterectomy in 2010, and about 6 months of mourning my loss, I now rejoice in the fact that I no longer have to worry about the monthly enemy coming. Yahooo!

  5. I have actually found many benefits since my hysterectomy 4 years ago. Hot flashes and muffin top (I had a TAH), are NOT two of them.

  6. Giving away unused tampons is just being environmentally friendly! My next door neighbour presented me with a giant bag of feminine hygiene products when she officially ceased to cycle. I’m looking forward to doing the same for a younger friend when I get to that point.
(So sorry you got there in the most difficult way imaginable).

  7. You should take what you normally spend on those (they are NOT cheap) and do something fun with the money!!

  8. Well, I have no more BUT some of the crap that came with no more – well, I am not sure which is worse!;-) I have hair all over my face & other unwanted places, hot flashes, night sweats & more – I still try to decide which I dislike more!

I am so glad the cansuh is gone!

As for the left overs – I still keep them since you have to be period free for one year & mine came & went multiple times & once I was so close to a year & it came back! ;-)
