My mom commented to me that I was so calm yesterday (i.e. not a frazzled mess running around panicky like a chicken with my head cut off. Ew. I hate that expression now that I just wrote it, it’s like that “killing two birds..”)
I think the reason for my calm is three-fold:
- We are on spring break, so the kids are home with me this week. However, the extended hours of preschool for my 4 year old (9-3 instead of 9-12) has allowed me to get on top of things. I can actually focus on them when they are home and power down for the night, not feel like I am behind or missing something when I am at baseball, I am finally finding that elusive balance.
- I AM WORKING OUT! Last week I got in 3 runs, a bike, AND strength training. No pain whatsoever, either! St. Anthony’s here I come! Callie asked on her blog yesterday, “Do you consider yourself an athlete, or more of a “wannabe athlete” like me?” and honestly up until this week I’ve felt like a wanna be! I haven’t felt like an actual athlete in MONTHS! But now I’m starting to feel like it again, finally. (BTW Callie, you may feel like a “wanna be” but you’re DEFINITELY not! :))
- Finally, our food is completely different and delicious and wonderful and best of all, preservative-free! Even though it’s ridiculously hard to do so at first, literally 8 out of 10 food items have preservatives, additives or colorings in them. The kids are eating things like avocado and pineapple and oranges and blueberry-pomegranate smoothies, and greek yogurt and we even had taco night with nary a preservative (yes! Taco night that no one would have known was different except me!) And best of all, no one has said a thing about wanting something else. No one even asks about Mickey D’s. Even when confronted with a situation where a friend has candy or something we’ve taken off the list, there have been no fits when I say “no” (while secretly cowering inside and waiting for one.) Just an, “OK!” and off they go. (Really?) We will have some tough challenges this weekend when we head to Disney though. I am not sure what to do there.
However. Everything feels good right at this moment. That could all change in a second but right now I shall relish in the moment.
Time to weigh in! And guess what? The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans has begun a brand new weight-loss challenge! The Spring In2 Action challenge begins TODAY and this week there is a $20 Amazon gift card up for grabs, head over there to check it out. I am doing the challenge too, so you’ll see me weighing in here every week. My goal for the challenge is to lose 5-7 pounds. 10 would be great!
TIME TO WEIGH IN!
I weigh exactly the same as last week but I suspect that number will go down in 5-7 days (ahem).
Not to be discouraged by the numbers.
Anyhoo I am really all over the place today (lots of energy lots of coffee) but each time I work out, I’ve been trying (to remember) to take a picture of myself working out as #PROOF. So here’s the previous week in workout pictures. (Use the hashtag #PROOF if you post your workout on Twitter, by the way! It’s #FitFluential!)
I only remembered to take 2 photos so here they are:
Here’s us after our Friday night date night tempo run at the causeway, my husband really pushed me for those 5 miles and it was great. Afterward we sat down on the beach area, caught the sunset and then went off to dinner for grilled mahi mahi and crab legs at an outside restaurant with music.
This was from Sunday afternoon’s 5 mile run at the causeway. I didn’t keep track of time on this one, just going the distance. Next week is 6 miles. Building back up.
Obviously the causeway is my favorite place to run.
Finally — HOORAY! I GOT THE Refuel with Chocolate Milk SCHOLARSHIP to the Fitness and Health Bloggers Conference in Denver this June! I’m going! Woot! Are you??? Check out the other FitFluential bloggers who got it too!
Have a great week!
What are your goals for the week ahead?
