I’m Going! DisneyNature’s Chimpanzee & #DisneyGlobalEvent

A couple of months ago when I went to see The Muppets with the kids, I saw a preview for DisneyNature’s newest installment, “Chimpanzee.”

My heart melted all over the place (how could you not when you look into those little baby eyes?)
Even more than that, my 4 year old is in a bigtime monkey phase. I realize that chimpanzees are not monkeys but still. Anything remotely monkey-like, he is in absolute love with. We have built up quite the collection of stuffed animal monkeys from tiny gorillas to Curious Georges to tamarins and quite often they sleep in a giant pile whereever my son is located.

DisneyNature also brought us “Earth” and “African Cats” and now they delve deep into the African forests to bring us Chimpanzee, which is a true and unbelievable story of a little chimpanzee named Oscar. I was so excited when Disney invited me and a group of other bloggers to the Chimpanzee red carpet premiere in Orlando next month to see the movie and to talk to the makers of the movie, including the amazing Jane Goodall, and you know how I love a good interview so I am SO.EXCITED. to talk to her!

I will be blogging about more details of the trip soon — in fact one of the extremely interesting tidbits is that we are staying at a place called Global Resort Homes, which is just a mile and a half from Disney property and has shuttles to the parks but THIS is the good part about it —  if you’re traveling to Disney to spend any amount of time and you want space for your family — not a boxed hotel room — and you don’t want to spend a million dollars, these are homes and townhomes for as little as $116 a night. Post forthcoming but let’s just say I have passes for Disney parks so it is possible I’ll never stay in a hotel over there again now that this option is available.

You will have to see the story of Oscar to believe it, and if you think those eyes are cute, you will cry when you see this trailer that explains the story (I did.)

The movie opens on April 20 and if you go the first week it is open, Disney will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Jane Goodall Institute which helps to protect the endangered chimpanzees.
