Animal Kingdom & #rundisney Day 1

Posted by

Yesterday I totally left without the t-shirt I was going to wear to run on Saturday because I was in such a rush, I seriously always forget something. Normally I’d be pretty annoyed but being here makes any annoyance whatsover just melt away like Calgon. This place is the coolest.ever.

So whatever, I’ll find something cool at the expo to match my pink tutu or perhaps the Team Sparkle skirt I fully intend on purchasing if they have pink. (Don’t tell my husband.)

I’ve been to Disney 500 million times but still have not been to Animal Kingdom and especially not the Animal Kingdom Lodge (where I am typing right now.) Can you believe that?

So I didn’t know what to expect.

And then I was walking down the hallway toward my room and there were giraffes roaming the African safari that we are in the middle of.

And zebras. Right outside! Like right there!

They just plopped a resort in the middle of Africa!

And so then I went to my room and opened up the door and went out on the balcony and saw this gazelle-looking deer like animal which I will name at a later date.

Just standing there. Looking at me.

I picked up the phone to call my husband to tell him to bring the kids over EARLIER! Because they would LOVE THIS!

He’s bringing them over at some point over the weekend (after baseball) but I think we should just cest la vie baseball, don’t you?? THIS IS SO MUCH COOLER! So I really hope he does.

I was so enthralled with this spectacularness that I had to literally pull myself away in order to shower and get ready for dinner and was late on account of the animal watching. I made it and we went to dinner with the other runDisney bloggers and #fitfluential ladies and we went here:

We had an array of food at the Sanaa restaurant  outside of which animals roam around as well. I would share the pictures but these food pictures did not come out well. (They look like the anti-food. Or what happens to food later.)

But you’ll have to take my word for it, we had yummy African cuisine (with an Indian flare) that included chutneys and curries and some amount of spice, perhaps (2) margaritas and then the star of the show (which shines in photos, don’t you think?)

more dessert

This fooled me into thinking it was cheesecake but it was this amazing ice creamy thing that is eyes-roll-back-in-your-head good.

And this:

And those guys had a friend and it was this:

This was like a custardy thingy. YUM. Good thing we're running in the morning.

Today we’ve got an early wake up call (5 a.m.) to run with Jeff Galloway at 6 a.m. (hurrah!) followed by a pretty fun & busy day! Including some park-hopping and dinner at Epcot.

See ya later! I’ll be on Twitter and Facebook until my phone battery dies!

But tell me, what is your favorite hotel to stay in on Disney property and have you ever stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge??
