I can’t help myself. Sometimes I just need permission to air my grievances. I want Thursdays to be like FESTIVUS! Where we have the airing of grievances and we can move on.
I choose Thursdays because enough of the week has gone by. Yet I don’t want to end on a downer note, so not on Friday either. Thursday seems like a good day.
I don’t always want to do it because I don’t want to be a Debbie Downer but gosh darnit, I can’t always keep it in! Can you? I don’t know why we’re expected to actually, it seems sort of silly to bottle it all up.
So I’m opening up “Pet Peevesday” (or maybe I shall call it FESTIVUS! You remember Festivus?? “A Festivus for the rest of us!”) on Thursdays at my Facebook page, Average Moms Wear Capes.
Do you have things that really really annoy you? They are like fingernails on a chalkboard and you just can’t take it anymore to keep it in? Well don’t! Get it out! It’s healthy to release these things. It really is! It’s a scientific fact! Somewhere. I think.
I am writing about it here because there are a few rules and I’ll attach them each week in case you are wondering what they might be. They are too long to write on the Facebook page.
The rules are:
- If I post about my husband, he has the right to post about me. It’s only fair. Possibility of public sparring? Hope not! We weren’t placed in this marriage simply to irritate each other, believe it or not! And mostly we don’t. Which is good. I actually like him. A good 99% of the time, too! (Winning!) That’s why I think a little fun won’t be a bad thing. If Pet Peevesday (Festivus?) suddenly stops and you see a post on marriage counseling then you’ll know it didn’t work.
- For you the rules are simple. No being nasty and calling people out by name. If people piss you off, they shall remain nameless. If you want to air your pet peeve anonymously, you can do so on this post or the blog post of the day. There is an anonymous comment option, how convenient!
- I do reserve the right to use my delete button (or call 911) but only if really goes crazy.
- Try and keep it PG 13 at the most. Some cursing is acceptable. (Sometimes you just have to!)
Hooray! I really need this. I hope you feel better! I know I will!
Now come to my Facebook page for some therapy. Every Thursday. www.facebook.com/averagemomswearcapes

I have nothing (surprisingly) to complain about right now!
oh wait one of my pet peeves are businesses who are closed for a week+ at the holidays and then still don’t respond to phone calls, emails…their loss…will take my biz elsewhere!

One thing that annoys me is on the train to work where I hear people talking loudly on the phone about their work as if they are trying to impress the people around them – its pathetic, if you are one of these people and reading this realise you are not impressing anyone, you look like a clow!
