Burst Into Summer ChallengeI’m bringing back Workout Wednesdays here at the Cape.

I’ve never called this place “The Cape” but it made me laugh. Anyhoo.

I haven’t posted about this in a while but I am in the midst of a weight-loss challenge at The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans, where I am also a contributor.

We’re doing the Burst Into Summer Challenge! Only I haven’t lost much. (Are we sure it’s not the “Burst Out of Your Pants Challenge?)

I am usually one of the people who says, “Well go ahead, put your mind to it and DO IT!”

But I’m actually doing the opposite. I’m training right now primarily for the Ironman Augusta 70.3 on September 25 and a lot of my tri group is doing it (like a field trip!) I have been focusing on my long runs and rides, and my Girlz N Gear sponsored marathon training for the ING Marathon in Miami kicks in officially literally the weekend after I return from Augusta. It’s all very good timing.

I guess my focus is changing a bit.

Yes I’d like to be down a few more pounds (8 to be exact). The workouts are good but the eating is not. (Probably a little too much vacation-mind going on. Whose idea was it to do train for a half-Ironman in the summer anyway!?) My focus right now is more about the workouts and less about the weight, and since this is sort of a team challenge where I have a team, I feel like I’ve failed them. I’m sorry team.

I keep saying to myself that I need to buckle down and just eat right again. Not for the weight necessarily (though that would be nice) but for the conditioning. You just can’t outexercise the crap food, it just turns into fueling your workouts badly. They really go hand in hand, whether you want them to or not.

Anyways my lack of motivation is why I’m creating the Motivation in a Jar. I know I need it and I read others’ tweets, I see other people’s posts and Motivation is just not this free-flowing river that you can dip into any time. It can be though, or at least I want it to be!

Anyway, my goal this week is to eat well for my workouts (and beyond!)

No fast food. Lots of water (which will mean no migraines.) By the way, I didn’t mention in my video post about the 50 mile bike last weekend that I was actually wrecked for the rest of the day. I had a migraine that lasted well throughout the day and into the Rays game that we went to, which is what happens when I’m dehydrated. Dehydration during long workouts is a trigger for me, I nearly always come home from a triathlon with a migraine. Even if I think I hydrated enough, it never seems to be enough.

So a mixed review on this Workout Wednesday but I think by continuing to post about it, I can keep myself a little more accountable. How was your week? Feel free to keep track and link up in the comments or even join us in the Shrinking Jeans challenge! We have a new one starting soon!!

  • My motivation for weight loss and eating right has been lacking alot this summer. In fact I didn’t even post this week cuz I was just tired of saying the same things…no weight loss, no real effort, not eating right….you get the point!
