An Ode to My Missing Post

There was a post.
And now it’s gone
Into the Internet
and beyond.

You wrote for hours
typing hard
the kind where you
let down your guard

Passion, humor
intellect
surely one of your
best posts yet!

The masses will love it
you’ll get award!
These posts are exactly
what you work toward!

You pat yourself
right on the back
for your genius, your brilliance
your verbose knack

You plug in your picture
and off you go
ready to hit publish
get on with the show

And then when you publish
the screen goes blank
your post is gone
your heart just sank

Your head gets hot
it begins to ache
you start yelling, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!”
and start to shake

An error message
pops up on the screen
and you backbutton wildly
your face turns green

The realization
starts to sink in
it is gone forever
to the recycle bin

You can’t get it back
you have to forget
the life and the times
of your best post yet

You go on with your life
but it’s hard to move on
what ‘could’ve been’ plagues you
but what ‘could’ve been’s’ gone

So you begin anew
on a whole different post
depressed that your words
have turned into a ghost

You try to dig deep
for the brilliance that was
and you try and you type
like a writer just does

And this time it comes
you’ve moved on and it flows
out of your keyboard
it grows and it grows

This is it! Now a picture!
we’re ready to go!
Ready again
for that big show!

Things are different this time
you covered your a$$
You remembered this time
to hit “Save DRAFT“!!!!!!!!

Your post is all there
in its beautiful glory
and that is the end
of this beautiful story.
